Terms of Use

The Service

Even Stevens helps you scan receipts, split bills and share what each person owes. You can use it on your iPhone without an account, or subscribe to Even Stevens Cloud for backup and sync, receipts read for you, web share links and connecting your AI assistant. Features may change over time; anything marked “coming soon” is not part of what you pay for until it is released.

Your account

You need an account for Even Stevens Cloud. Give accurate details, keep your sign-in methods secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, and at least 13.

Subscriptions, free trial and auto-renewal

• Plans: Lite, Plus (monthly or yearly) and Pro, each with a monthly allowance of receipts read by Even Stevens Cloud. Unused readings do not carry over. Allowances reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC).
• Billed by Apple: subscriptions are bought through the App Store and charged to your Apple ID. Apple’s terms of sale apply, and the price is shown in the app before you confirm.
• Free trial: eligible new subscribers get 1 month free. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription and you are charged when it ends.
• Auto-renewal: a subscription renews automatically for the same period (a month or a year) at the then-current price, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Managing and canceling: in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone, or from Settings › Manage subscription in the app. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds: handled by Apple under its policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Price changes: prices may change. Apple tells you in advance and, where required, asks you to agree before a higher price applies.

Your content

Your receipts, photos, splits and other content remain yours. You give us permission to host, copy, process and display them only as needed to run the Service for you, including sending receipt photos to our AI model provider to read them, and showing shared snapshots to the people you send links to.

Make sure you are allowed to upload what you add, and be considerate with other people’s names and information on receipts and splits.

Check the results

Receipts read by AI or on-device text recognition can contain mistakes, and splits depend on what you enter. Check amounts before you rely on them. Even Stevens is a calculation tool; it is not accounting, tax or financial advice.

Share links

Anyone with a share link can see the snapshot it contains until it expires or you revoke it. You decide who receives your links.

Third-party services

If you use your own AI service, or connect an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, your use of that service is governed by its provider’s terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or for what they do with data you choose to send them.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Service. For example, do not break the law with it, upload content you have no right to share, try to access other people’s data, interfere with or overload our systems, reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows, or resell it.

Suspension and ending

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and will tell you why unless the law or security prevents it. If we stop offering Even Stevens Cloud, we will give reasonable notice so you can keep your receipts on your device.

Disclaimers and liability

We work to keep the Service reliable, but provide it “as is” and cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Larches is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by mistakes in receipts or splits that you could have checked, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

Apple

These terms are between you and Larches, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any claims about the app. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Where these terms do not cover something, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.

Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms. We will tell you in the app before significant changes take effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
